Sanctuary Health has a permanent job vacancy for a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager (RGN) to work in Hampshire.

The salary for this role is £30,401 - £37,267 per annum.

Role Purpose:
- To provide high standards of care for patients and their families by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care without direct supervision but within scope of professional practice.
- To work as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team visiting patients providing rehabilitation and health care in a community hospital environment to support their timely discharge from hospital.
- Non clinically the individual will support other team members to develop their clinical knowledge. Participate and support with team development to ensure a quality service is provided.

- Support the Clinical Ward Manager in meeting his/her aims and objectives.
- Identify any changes to working practice that would enhance the care of patients and agree any changes with Clinical Ward Manager prior to implementation.
- Uphold all standards as identified by the NMC, including Code of Professional Conduct, documentation, medicines administration.
- Demonstrate knowledge of COSSH guidelines and Infection control guidelines.
- Utilises and manages resources economically and effectively.
- Effective verbal and written communication with patients, carers and staff, liaising with the multidisciplinary team in the delivery of care.
- Recognise the symptoms of an unwell patient and take appropriate actions to prevent further deterioration.
- Use clinical judgement to reassess and evaluate patient response to treatment/intervention. Take appropriate action in response to this within treatment guidelines.
- Inform the senior person on duty of any untoward incidents or problems affecting patients/staff/relative and visitors.
- Act as an effective role model by using professional standards relating to attitudes, appearance and conduct.
- Take part in the admission and discharge of patients to the ward in accordance with Trust and departmental policies.
- To undertake clinical supervision in accordance with trust policy.
- To work within the policies and protocols of Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.
- To provide an assessment, treatment, care planning/delivery and evaluation service for patients referred to the ward following an evidenced based approach.
- To manage the ward, seeking support from senior staff, where necessary and to ensure the provision of an up-to-date, clinically effective service based on evidence of good practice.
- To facilitate safe discharge from the hospital setting.
- To contribute to interdisciplinary working by teaching, learning & practicing interdisciplinary skills & techniques as defined by an agreed competency framework or training scheme. Where appropriate to take responsibility for the application of those new skills.
- To provide line management and supervision to nurses, support workers, associate practitioners & practice placement students as appropriate within locality services.
- To maintain excellent clinical practice through the CPD process, and taking part in relevant research, audit and development activity as directed.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic and quality care to patients within the hospital setting.
- To communicate with a range of other teams, internally and externally to the health system regarding patient care and the promotion of the team.

Requirements of the Ward Manager:
- You will be a registered nurse and will have a valid NMC pin.
- A genuine commitment to adhering to the NMC Codes of Conduct and expanding your professional development.
- A relevant nursing qualification and registration.
