Sanctuary Health is currently looking for a band 6 mental health practitioner to fill a full-time role in Cardiff.

The pay rate for this locum job is £22.50 - £27.50 per hour (LTD Company Equivalent) This is a 3-month contract.

This role will continue our approach to managing individual and small groups of students who are vulnerable as a result of immediate issues or crises. The role will focus on responding to, supporting and referring at-risk students appropriately. The role will also provide guidance and assistance to University staff who are supporting them and work in partnership with external services and other agencies. The role will sit within our Counselling Health and Wellbeing Service and will work closely with colleagues across the Student Support and Wellbeing Division and the wider University.

Duties:
- Provide professional advice and guidance on the management of vulnerable students and those in crisis, including processes and procedures.
- Use judgement, creativity, knowledge and experience to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood and risks are actively managed.
- Take responsibility for recognising, risk-assessing and resolving student issues where they fall within set role objectives of our processes for managing vulnerable and at risk students.
- Ensure students receive the most appropriate support by determining and linking their requirements with the most effective and proportionate response, and continually reviewing delivery.
- Work with the Counselling Manager to plan the appropriate implementation and evaluation of the service on an ongoing basis, and in collaboration with relevant colleagues across the Student Support and Wellbeing division.
- Assess individuals that apply for counselling that have long standing mental health needs to discuss all services available and refer where appropriate

Requirements:
- Valid NMC registration under mental health
- Experience in working in a community mental health setting is essential
- A degree or equivalent within mental health nursing (RMN Trained)
